Construction has begun on the Bataan–Cavite Interlink Bridge, starting with land-based approach roads for the 32.15-kilometer, four-lane span that will cross Manila Bay to connect Mariveles, Bataan, and Naic, Cavite.
The project includes two cable-stayed navigation bridges with main spans of 900 meters and 400 meters, about 24 kilometers of marine viaducts, and roughly 8 kilometers of approach roads, according to project details.
Work is being carried out in phases through separate civil works packages, with several already underway, including the Bataan land approach segment. The Department of Public Works and Highways is expected to award the remaining major packages as construction progresses.
Once finished, the bridge is expected to cut travel time between Bataan and Cavite from about 5.5 hours to roughly 45 minutes, easing the movement of people and goods between the two provinces.
Officials say the bridge could also spur economic growth by improving access between Cavite and Central Luzon’s industrial hubs and seaports, potentially boosting manufacturing, logistics and tourism while creating jobs and relieving traffic on major routes in and around Metro Manila.
