KAWIT, Cavite — Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at Evo City, a 1,000-seat modern landmark along Centennial Road, has been named a finalist at the World Architecture Festival.
Designed by Dominic Galicia Architects, the church blends historical and contemporary elements, with its design guided entirely by the Vesica Piscis, an ancient Christian symbol formed by two intersecting circles that resembles a fish. Early Christians reportedly used the shape to identify one another during periods of Roman persecution.
In the Evo City church, the intersecting lines form a vaulted ceiling rising 25 meters that allows natural light to fill the sanctuary. The design also draws on the imagery of the Holy Rosary, linking Kawit’s religious heritage with the structure’s modern form.
The church, described as the spiritual center of Cavite’s emerging central business district, is open to visitors and worshippers alike.
Regular Mass schedules are as follows:
- Saturday anticipated Mass: 6:30 p.m. (Tagalog)
- Sunday Masses: 11:30 a.m. (Tagalog) and 6:30 p.m. (English)
