DASMARIÑAS CITY, Cavite — Agents seized P3.4 million worth of shabu and arrested a suspect after a drug buy-bust operation erupted into a gunfight in Barangay San Dionisio Saturday afternoon, with two other suspects escaping, authorities said.
The operation, conducted around 4:43 p.m. on April 25, targeted a suspect identified by his alias “Ali.” Agents recovered an estimated 500 grams of suspected shabu, five knot-tied plastic sachets of the drug, and the marked money used in the transaction.
Operatives said the situation escalated when the suspects apparently realized they were being targeted and opened fire, prompting a gunfight between the two sides. “Ali” was wounded during the exchange and was brought to a hospital for treatment. Two of his companions managed to escape.
The operation was led by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency’s Bulacan Provincial Office and PDEA CALABARZON, in coordination with local police.
The arrested suspect faces charges for violation of Section 5 of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, for the illegal sale of dangerous drugs.
Follow-up operations to locate the two fleeing suspects were ongoing.
