Two men were shot, one fatally, by unidentified gunmen in an alleyway Wednesday in what police described as a targeted attack.
The shooting occurred about 1:12 p.m. in Tropical Village in Barangay San Francisco, according to police.
A man identified by the alias “Rod” was shot in the head and died at the scene. A second man, identified by the alias “Jiian,” was hit in the left shoulder and was taken to a hospital, where he was listed in stable condition.
Investigators said the assailants approached the victims without warning and opened fire. The second victim was shot after he reportedly witnessed the killing.
Police said they received a call from a village watchman about 2:45 p.m. and found the first victim’s body at the scene.
Authorities identified the suspects by the aliases “John” and “Wewe,” who fled after the shooting. A hot pursuit operation was underway.
Police said the motive remained under investigation and did not say whether the shooting stemmed from a personal dispute.
Authorities urged anyone with information to contact the nearest police station.
