TRECE MARTIRES CITY, Cavite — Authorities are investigating the sudden death of a two-month-old baby girl after a doctor noticed unusual marks on her body, police said.

According to a report from the Trece Martires City Police, officers received information from General Emilio Aguinaldo Memorial Hospital around 10:45 a.m. on Sunday last week, regarding the infant’s death.

The baby, born on July 3, 2025 in Barangay Cabuco, was brought to the hospital by her mother after she noticed the child had no pulse.

Hospital staff said the duty pediatrician became suspicious after seeing red blotches and swelling on parts of the baby’s body — signs not typical of a natural death.

The doctor requested an autopsy to determine the cause of death.

Police said the Trece Martires City Police Station is conducting a thorough investigation while awaiting the results from the Scene of the Crime Operations (SOCO) to determine if foul play was involved.
