IMUS CITY, Cavite — A 15-year-old boy was taken into custody after an entrapment operation in Cavite for allegedly blackmailing his ex-girlfriend online with nude photos and videos, police said Tuesday.
The Cavite Provincial Cyber Response Team carried out the operation around 4:30 p.m. on Sept. 15 in Imus City, leading to the arrest of the suspect, identified only by the alias “Utoy,” according to the Philippine National Police Anti-Cybercrime Group (PNP ACG).
The minor is facing charges for violations of Article 286 of the Revised Penal Code on grave coercion; Republic Act 8353, or the Anti-Rape Law of 1997, as amended by RA 11648; RA 9995, or the Anti-Photo and Video Voyeurism Act of 2009; and RA 11313, or the Safe Spaces Act of 2019, all in relation to Section 6 of RA 10175, or the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012.
Brig. Gen. Bernard R. Yang, acting director of the PNP ACG, commended the operatives for the successful operation.
“Online harassment and threats are serious crimes that will not be tolerated. The PNP ACG remains firm in its commitment to protect individuals from cyber-enabled violence and to hold perpetrators accountable,” Yang said in a statement.
