SILANG, Cavite — Thieves smashed the windows of two Toyota Hilux vehicles in the parking lot of a restaurant in Barangay San Vicente 2, making off with more than P70,000 in cash, gadgets, and documents on Wednesday afternoon, January 29.
The victims discovered the break-ins around 4:30 p.m. after the suspects, believed to be part of a car-smashing gang, struck at about 3:55 p.m.
Surveillance footage showed one suspect wearing a red and blue jacket and black pants, riding a black NMAX motorcycle.
Police are continuing their investigation into the incident.
Silang is a rapidly urbanizing area with growing commercial activity, which might attract such criminal activities.
Incidents of “basag-kotse” or car-smashing gangs are not uncommon in the Philippines, where thieves target vehicles in public spaces to steal valuables left inside.
These crimes often occur in broad daylight, taking advantage of crowded or less monitored areas.
