Philippine government authorities seized over P775 million pesos worth of suspected shabu, a type of methamphetamine, in two separate buy-bust operations in Imus City, Cavite on September 9, 2024.
The first operation, conducted by the Southern Operations Unit 4A (SOU 4A) and the Philippine National Police’s (PNP) Drug Enforcement Group (DEG) in coordination with the Imus City Police Station and other agencies, resulted in the arrest of two suspects and the confiscation of 110 kilograms of suspected shabu worth 748 million pesos.
According to authorities, the operation was triggered by a tip from a concerned citizen about suspicious activity at a house in Barangay Pasong Buaya II, Imus, Cavite.
The suspects allegedly hid the contraband in a plastic container labeled as fish food.
The suspects, identified as “Saad”, 37, a resident of Fairgrounds Subdivision, Pasong Buaya II, Imus, Cavite, and “Naz”, 26, a resident of Dasma 4, Salawag, Dasmariñas City, Cavite, will face charges under the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 (R.A. 9165).
In a separate operation later that evening, authorities seized 4 kilograms of suspected shabu worth P27 million pesos from another suspect in the same city.
Police are investigating whether the two operations are connected and are also looking into the source of the illicit drugs and who supplied them. Most illegal drugs are reported sourced from nearby Kawit town.
