Fishermen, vendors, and local officials gathered for a boodle fight on Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2024, to showcase the safety and quality of seafood from Rosario, Cavite.
The event, led by Vice Mayor Bamm Gonzales, aimed to boost the local economy and reassure consumers that seafood from the area is safe to eat.
The boodle fight featured a variety of seafood dishes, including grilled tilapia, tuna belly, adobong tulingan, and more.
Daisy Narvaez, owner of a fishport consignment, participated in the event to promote her products and assure customers that her seafood is safe and fresh.
Mike Concha, chairman of the Municipal Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Management Council, emphasized that products from the sea do not need to be feared.
“The taste and quality of seafood from Rosario are undeniable, and we’re proud to showcase them to the public,” he said.
Nhel Argem Abutin, president of the Salinas Gay Association, encouraged everyone to support the various products from Rosario Fishport.
The boodle fight was held on a long table lined with banana leaves, with participants using their hands instead of utensils. The event was a success, with attendees enjoying the seafood and camaraderie.
Fishing is the main source of livelihood for many residents of Rosario, which is also known as the “Tinapang Salinas Capital of the Philippines.”
