A shooting incident in Tagaytay, Cavite, on Sunday left two Cavite police officers and a suspect dead, authorities said.

The incident occurred at around 2:15 PM at Prime Peak Subdivision in Barangay Maitim 2nd Central, Tagaytay, according to a statement from the Cavite Police Provincial Office.

Police Captain Adrian Binalay, 43, and Police Captain Tomas Batarao Jr. were identified as the fallen officers.

Binalay was assigned to the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group National Capital Region, while Batarao was recently placed under the Regional Police Holding and Administrative Section.

The suspects involved in the shooting were identified as Atty. Den, alias Ver, 52, and alias Ben, a retired sheriff.

Atty. Den was killed in the exchange of gunfire, while alias Ben was arrested at the Tagaytay Medical Center.

Another suspect, alias Ver, was apprehended shortly after.

According to initial reports, the victims were in the area to inquire about purchasing a lot when they were advised by a security guard not to enter the subdivision.

Despite the warning, the group proceeded, and Atty. Den opened fire on them from inside his car.

Police Regional Office CALABARZON Regional Director, Police Brigadier General Paul Kenneth T. Lucas, ordered a comprehensive investigation into the incident, emphasizing the need for diligence and impartiality in uncovering the facts.

The Cavite Police Provincial Office extended its condolences to the families of the fallen officers and assured the public of an in-depth investigation to ensure justice is served.
