Senator Christopher “Bong” Go visited Cavite City on Monday to boost recovery efforts for fire victims, partnering with local government units (LGU) and the National Housing Authority (NHA) to provide support and aid in rebuilding.

Go, coordinating with Mayor Denver Reyes Chua, reassured victims, “To those who lost their homes, do not worry. As I’ve said before, material things can be replaced, money can be earned, but lives lost are lost forever. Let’s prioritize and take care of each other’s lives and health.”

Through the Emergency Housing Assistance Program (EHAP), which Go initiated and continues to back, qualified disaster victims will receive financial grants to rebuild their homes. EHAP aims to provide immediate relief to families affected by disasters such as fires, typhoons, and earthquakes.

In addition to government housing assistance, Senator Go personally distributed grocery packs, meals, water containers, alcohol, shirts, basketballs, volleyballs, masks, vitamins, and select recipients received shoes, mobile phones, bicycles, and a watch to 746 households.

“My fellow citizens, do not thank me. It is my job to help you to the best of my abilityโ€ฆ We should be thankful for the opportunity to serve you all,” Go expressed.

The senator also pushed for Senate Bill No. 192, seeking to institutionalize a Rental Housing Subsidy Program, and highlighted the importance of the Bureau of Fire and Protection Modernization Act of 2021, which he co-sponsored. Additionally, Go offered medical-related support through Malasakit Centers and encouraged the public to visit nearby centers.

Later that day, Go attended the Commencement Exercises of the Philippine Christian University in Pasay City as its Guest of Honor and Speaker.
