CARMONA, Cavite — The city of Carmona in Cavite province has achieved a record-breaking total income of 1.189 billion pesos ($21.2 million) for 2023, according to data from the Bureau of Local Government Finance (BLGF).
The milestone marks a significant increase in the city’s revenue, reflecting steady economic growth over recent years.
Local officials attribute the rise to robust economic policies, thriving businesses, and ongoing investments in infrastructure and education.
Mayor Dr. Dahlia Loyola said the city’s development strategy focuses on balancing growth with sustainability.
“We’re creating a future where economic progress and environmental responsibility go hand in hand,” Mayor Loyola told Cavite.news.
The city has been implementing projects to improve urban infrastructure while maintaining green spaces. These efforts aim to enhance quality of life for residents and attract new talent and investment.
However, some critics argue that rapid development could lead to gentrification and displacement of long-time residents.
“While economic progress is commendable, it’s crucial to implement policies that protect vulnerable communities,” an economic expert said.
Loyola said that as Carmona continues its economic ascent, city officials face the challenge of managing growth while preserving the city’s character and addressing concerns of all residents.
