At least 13 businesses in Bacoor City, Cavite, have been served notices to settle outstanding social security contributions, officials say.

The move is part of the “Run After Contribution Evaders” (RACE) campaign by the Social Security System (SSS), aimed at enforcing compliance with the country’s Social Security Law.

Josephine S. Hipolito, head of the SSS Bacoor City Branch, told reporters that the selected businesses have 15 days to fulfill their obligations.

“We’ve already sent billing letters to these employers,” Ms Hipolito said. “Now we’re providing them an opportunity to comply by visiting our branch.”

The RACE campaign seeks to ensure businesses register with the SSS and pay contributions for their employees. Employers are required to submit registration forms within 30 days of hiring new staff.

Officials stress that the initiative is crucial for safeguarding workers’ rights and long-term financial security.

The SSS has not disclosed the names of the businesses involved or the total amount of unpaid contributions.

The enforcement action in Bacoor City, a progressive city of Cavite province, reflects broader efforts by Philippine authorities to strengthen social security compliance nationwide.
