MANILA — A senior Philippine National Police official said Monday he has endorsed an administrative complaint against a Batangas police officer to the National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM), which has assumed jurisdiction over the case.
Police Brigadier General Hansel Marantan, the PNP regional director, said he ordered an immediate investigation upon learning of the incident and personally contacted the complainant to assure her of fair and sensitive handling of her concerns.
The officer involved has been placed under administrative status pending the outcome of the probe, a standard protocol aimed at preserving the integrity of the proceedings, Marantan said.
NAPOLCOM earlier said the complaint would be handled with urgency and impartiality, with full respect for due process, particularly in cases involving women in uniform.
“Allegations involving abuse of authority or disrespect, particularly toward women, are taken seriously,” Marantan said, adding that any finding of liability would be based strictly on facts and evidence.
He urged the public to allow the process to proceed without undue pressure, saying both the PNP and NAPOLCOM remained committed to accountability and institutional integrity.
