AMADEO, Cavite — A local tricycle operators and drivers association distributed ₱500 fuel subsidies to each of its 232 members on March 23, drawing entirely from its own organizational funds amid continued increases in fuel prices.
The Buho Maitim Talon (BMT) TODA, whose membership spans Barangay Buho, Barangay Maitim, and Barangay Talon in Amadeo, sourced the assistance from monthly dues of ₱200 per member — a pooled fund the group said reflects the association’s spirit of mutual aid.
Association president Nolasco Villanueva acknowledged the modest amount but said it offered meaningful relief to members whose livelihoods depend directly on daily road operations.
Villanueva thanked the membership for their continued support and solidarity, saying the distribution was a demonstration of collective action in the face of economic hardship. He pledged that association officials would continue working to protect the welfare of every member.
The BMT TODA was established in the 1990s and has since maintained that unity and mutual support form the foundation of the group’s resilience during times of crisis.
