MANILA — A baby bus drivers’ association has distributed free rice to some 200 drivers as fuel prices continue to rise and cut into their daily earnings.

Led by Marcus Andico Cupino, the group CZNT TSC gave five kilograms of rice to each beneficiary driver in an effort to ease the burden of rising operating costs on their livelihoods.

CZNT TSC is an organization of baby bus drivers and operators that has banded together to support its members during the ongoing fuel crisis.

Cupino said many drivers are struggling to meet their families’ basic needs as their take-home earnings shrink against soaring petroleum prices.

“I understand the hardship we face every day just trying to make a living. It is not easy to stay afloat, especially when what we earn is barely enough for our families,” Cupino said.

He said the rice distribution, while modest, was a symbol of solidarity within the organization.

“This may not be enough to address all your needs, but it serves as a reminder that you have companions ready to support you. Let us continue to work together, stand united, and remain strong in the face of these challenges,” he said.

Beneficiary drivers expressed gratitude for the immediate response, saying the assistance provided meaningful relief from their daily expenses.

CZNT TSC also called on other organizations and government agencies to pay closer attention to the plight of public utility drivers amid continued increases in fuel and commodity prices.
