GENERAL MARIANO ALVAREZ, Cavite — A van was destroyed by fire in Barangay Memije on Saturday afternoon, March 15, 2026 with firefighters extinguishing the blaze within minutes of arriving on the scene, authorities said.
The vehicle, a 2013 Nissan Urvan Escape with plate number ZGP 464, caught fire at around 4:40 p.m. The incident was promptly reported to the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) in General Mariano Alvarez, and responding personnel declared the fire out at approximately 4:57 p.m.
The operation was led by Fire Officer 3 Lendle Lourd Baita, shift officer-in-charge, under the supervision of Fire Senior Inspector Nilo B. Lomitao, BFP chief for General Mariano Alvarez.
No injuries or fatalities were reported.
Authorities said the cause of the fire and the extent of damage to the vehicle are still under investigation. Police and BFP personnel are coordinating on the case.
