ROSARIO, Cavite — A group of 47 residents has formed the Rosario Historical Society to preserve and document the town’s historical and cultural heritage.

Dr. Lorenzito B. Atangan serves as president of the organization, with Ruben Quinto as vice president. Members come from education, research, arts and public service sectors.

The founders said they created the society to record and protect historical stories, documents and sites in Rosario. They cited rapid modernization as a threat to local narratives that shape community identity.

“The history of a town is not just a collection of dates and events, but a mirror of the lives, struggles and triumphs of its people,” Atangan said. He added the society aims to make history relevant through research and public education.

Quinto said the organization’s strength lies in its members’ collective commitment.

The society plans to conduct educational programs including lectures, discussions, exhibitions and publications to raise public awareness of local history.

The group also aims to partner with schools, local government and other organizations to strengthen appreciation for history, particularly among young people. Founders said collaborative efforts will keep the past alive in the present.

The organization marks a systematic approach to preserving Rosario’s historical legacy under the leadership of Atangan and Quinto and its 47 members.
