President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2025, vowed to strengthen government backing for renewable energy and clean technology, visiting a groundbreaking solar facility in Naic, Cavite that he called a model for the nation’s energy future.

Marcos toured the NING*NING 6.55-Megawatt Peak Solar Rooftop Power Facility in Naic, Cavite, described as the world’s first grid-connected, utility-scale solar rooftop project in a socialized housing community.

The facility equips 1,986 homes with rooftop solar panels that collectively generate clean power while generating revenue for community services including roof repairs, street lighting and waste management.

“The energy that we produced here will power a better life for the people who live in this community, but even beyond this community,” Marcos said, noting the project also supplies additional power to the electrical grid.

Marcos praised the project for using existing rooftops without consuming farmland or disrupting livelihoods. He said the facility is expected to reduce over 6,233 metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions annually — equivalent to removing nearly 1,000 vehicles from roads.

The project, developed by Solaris Inc. and Raemulan Lands Inc., won Gold for ESG Integration Excellence and Silver for Sustainable Renewable Energy Initiative of the Year at the Asian Power Awards 2025.

Marcos said the administration will continue streamlining processes to promote and accelerate innovative renewable energy projects. He emphasized that collaboration among government, the private sector and local communities is essential for expanding renewable energy nationwide amid climate change challenges.

“Imagine what we can do if we replicate this sort of effort in neighboring communities and, later on, the rest of the country,” Marcos said.
