GENERAL TRIAS CITY, Cavite — Ateneo de Manila University announced Monday that it will open a new campus in General Trias City by 2030 through a partnership with GT Capital Holdings Inc., expanding the Jesuit institution’s reach beyond its flagship Quezon City location to serve growing demand for premium education in southern Metro Manila’s suburbs.
The 15-hectare campus will rise inside Riverpark Township, a mixed-use development by Federal Land Inc., GT Capital’s real estate arm. A memorandum of agreement was signed Friday.
Ateneo, founded in 1859 and consistently ranked the Philippines’ top university by Quacquarelli Symonds, operates primary campuses in Quezon City and a professional schools site in Makati City. The Cavite project marks its first major expansion in decades.
“This expansion reaffirms Ateneo’s enduring commitment to be a force for good—forming persons who are not only competent but also compassionate, ready to lead and serve in a rapidly changing world,” university President Fr. Roberto Yap, S.J., said in a statement.
GT Capital Vice Chairman Alfred Ty said the project “not only strengthens the educational landscape of Cavite but also uplifts the lives of the communities we serve.”
“Our investment in this campus reflects our long-term commitment to creating sustainable value for generations of Filipinos, anchored on the values of excellence and service,” Ty added.
Riverpark, billed as “the Next-Gen City of the South,” is planned as a smart, sustainable community. Ateneo said its presence will help position the township as “a hub for growth, innovation, and holistic living.”
