Cavite — Police arrested a woman wanted for online libel in Cavite on Friday, authorities said.
Operatives from the Cavite Provincial Cyber Response Team took the suspect, identified only by the alias “Julie,” 38, into custody at approximately 12:30 p.m. on Oct. 10.
The arrest was made pursuant to a warrant.
“Julie” faces charges for violating Section 4(c)4 of Republic Act No. 10175, the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012. Bail was set at P10,000 pesos per case.
Brig. Gen. Bernard R. Yang, acting director of the Philippine National Police Anti-Cybercrime Group, commended the personnel involved.
“Every successful operation brings us closer to a safer online community,”Yang said in a statement. “We will not relent in pursuing those who exploit cyberspace to victimize others.”
