Manila Electric Company (Meralco) continues power restoration efforts for approximately 1,700 customers in Cavite, Bulacan, Metro Manila, and Batangas, impacted by Super Typhoon Nando (international name: Ragasa) and the southwest monsoon, the utility company announced Wednesday.
Meralco Vice President and Head of Corporate Communications Joe Zaldarriaga said crews are conducting “mopping up operations” to restore service. “Our crews will not stop until we restore service to the affected customers,” he said in a statement.
The company is also on heightened alert for potential impacts from Tropical Storm Opong and the southwest monsoon.
Meralco has implemented measures to mitigate disruptions, including advising households to unplug appliances when not in use and avoid contact with electrical outlets when hands are wet.
Billboard owners were also urged to roll up their billboards to minimize damage from strong winds.
“We continue to closely monitor weather developments to ensure the readiness of our crews and facilities,” Zaldarriaga said. “We also remind everyone to observe electrical safety, especially those in flood-prone areas.”
