Authorities arrested two alleged high-value drug targets and seized more than P20 million pesos worth of methamphetamine in a buy-bust operation in Cavite province, officials said Tuesday.
Agents from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and police arrested a ride-hailing driver known as “Hammad,” 37, and his partner, “Madam,” 33, in their home in Palmsdale Village, General Trias City, on Aug. 22.
Authorities confiscated three kilograms of shabu with an estimated street value of P20.4 million pesos.
The pair will be charged with violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act, which carries penalties of life imprisonment and fines of up to P10 million pesos.
PDEA chief Isagani Nerez said the operation was part of intensified efforts to dismantle major drug syndicates in the country.
