A bus conductor was killed after being struck by two vehicles in succession over the weekend in General Trias, police said.
The victim was fatally injured when he was first hit by a car and then run over by a dump truck while disembarking from his bus near a garage, according to media reports.
Bus driver Allan Relatado told GMA News that the accident occurred as they were preparing to park their vehicle.
“We were going into the garage, and just as he was getting down, a speeding car came and hit him,” Relatado said in Filipino.
The impact threw the conductor into an adjacent lane where he was subsequently struck by a passing dump truck.
Police arrested both drivers. Medical examination results showed the car driver was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident, according to reports.
Both suspects have been charged with reckless imprudence resulting in homicide and underwent inquest proceedings.
The dump truck driver denied wrongdoing, while the car driver declined to comment on the incident.
A police patrol car that happened to be in the area assisted in apprehending the fleeing car driver, Relatado said.
