Transportation Chief Vows Swift Justice for Slain SAICT Enforcer
CAVITE, Philippines — Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon on Saturday condemned the killing of a traffic enforcer under the Special Action and Intelligence Committee for Transportation (SAICT), vowing that swift justice will be served.
Dizon said the Department of Transportation (DOTr) is working closely with law enforcement agencies to identify and apprehend the suspect or suspects behind the death of Hervin T. Cabanban, who was gunned down in Cavite.
“I strongly condemn the heinous killing of our SAICT enforcer,” Dizon said. “President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has ordered an immediate resolution to this crime. To those behind this, justice will find you.”
Dizon extended condolences to Cabanban’s family and colleagues, saying the DOTr will not stop coordinating with the Philippine National Police and the National Bureau of Investigation until justice is achieved.
Cabanban’s killing has sparked outrage among DOTr officials and the transport enforcement community, with calls for stronger protection for traffic personnel.
