Police arrested a provincial-level most wanted individual in Barangay Bulihan, Silang, Cavite, on Wednesday afternoon for charges related to cybercrime and video voyeurism.

Silang Municipal Police Station chief PLt. Col. Louie DC Gonzaga identified the suspect by the alias “Paopao,” a resident of Barangay San Luis 1, Dasmariñas City.

The arrest was made around 5 p.m. by virtue of a warrant issued by the Regional Trial Court Branch 133 in Tagaytay City on October 17, 2023.

The warrant stemmed from Criminal Case No. TG-23-095, which charges the suspect with violating Section 4(D) of Republic Act 9995, or the Anti-Photo and Video Voyeurism Act of 2009, and Section 6 of RA 10175, or the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012. Bail was recommended at P200,000.

Authorities used an Alternative Recording Device (ARD) to properly document the arrest and inform the suspect of his constitutional rights.

The suspect is currently in the custody of the Silang police while arrangements are being made to return the warrant to court.

“This arrest shows that our campaign against cybercriminals remains relentless. Those who use technology to break the law will not escape justice,” said Gonzaga.

PCOL Dwight E. Alegre, acting provincial director of the Cavite Police Provincial Office, praised the successful operation.

“The arrest of a provincial-level most wanted person reflects the commitment and competence of our police officers. With modern technology and swift action, our pursuit of justice continues,” Alegre said.
