CAVITE, Philippines, May 23, 2025 — Police in Cavite province honored members of Special Election Boards (SEBs) with a “Heroes Welcome” ceremony Friday, recognizing their service in securing democratic processes.
The ceremony at Camp BGen Pantaleon Garcia featured the presentation of commendation certificates to SEBs personnel by Acting Regional Director Owen G. De Luna of the National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM) CALABARZON and Acting Provincial Director Colonel Dwight E. Alegre.
“You have made Cavite proud. You have elevated the standard of professionalism and integrity in law enforcement,” Alegre told the honorees during the event.
The ceremony included welcome remarks from Lieutenant Colonel Willy B. Salazar, Deputy Provincial Director for Administration, and a presentation of accomplishments by Lieutenant Colonel Jonathan A. Asnan, Deputy Provincial Director for Operations.
Jon-Jon Pilapil, team leader of the MDS SEBs Contingent, shared experiences from their deployment during the program.
Alegre praised the personnel’s “bravery, dedication, and unwavering commitment,” telling them they had “fortified the very foundation of our democratic process.”
“Never forget that in fulfilling your duty, you have become more than peacekeepers—you are symbols of hope, unity, and national pride,” he said.
The event concluded with a traditional communal meal known as a “boodle fight,” which organizers said symbolized unity and camaraderie among the law enforcement personnel.
The ceremony aimed to strengthen bonds between law enforcement, local leadership, and communities in their shared commitment to public service and democratic integrity, according to the Cavite Police Office.
