Coast Guard Probes Vessel Collision off Cavite Coast

The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) has launched an investigation into a collision between two vessels off the coast of Rosario, Cavite, on Tuesday, officials said.

PCG Commandant Admiral Ronnie Gil L Gavan ordered the Coast Guard District National Capital Region – Central Luzon (CGDNCR-CL) to probe the incident involving the LCT Nicia and MV Sangko Uno 66, which occurred in the early hours of March 26, 2025, a coast guard statement said.

Preliminary findings indicate that the LCT Nicia was en route to Cebu, while the MV Sangko Uno 66 was heading to the Pasay Reclamation Project from Zambales at the time of the collision, the statement added.

Coast guard responders reported no casualties or oil spills in the surrounding waters of Rosario following the incident. Both vessels sustained minor damage, according to the PCG.

Admiral Gavan has directed the LCT Nicia and MV Sangko Uno 66 to proceed to Manila, where they will assist in the Marine Casualty Investigation (MCI) being conducted by the coast guard, the statement said.
