Hundreds of Barangay Nutrition Scholars (BNS) from across Cavite province have gathered for the 4th BNS General Assembly, a vibrant celebration of nutrition and community spirit.

The event, held in Trece Martires City, reflects the commitment to enhancing nutritional programs in the province.

This year’s theme, “Balik-Tanaw sa Nutrisyon: Gintong Taon ng Pagdiriwang para sa ika-50 Anibersaryo ng Nutrisyon,” unveiled the crucial role of BNS in promoting nutrition within their communities.

Dr. Nelson Soriano, a leading health expert, delivered an inspiring opening message, underscoring the importance of BNS in promoting nutrition and health. His remarks set a positive tone for the gathering, celebrating the dedication of these health partners.

Governor Athena Bryana Tolentino, a staunch advocate of health and nutrition, expressed her pride in the accomplishments of the BNS, reaffirming her administration’s commitment to improving public health.

The governor pointed out the importance of nutrition and mental health, and pledged to continue supporting the BNS in their vital work.

The assembly showcased the power of collaboration and the importance of nutrition in fostering healthier communities. Participants left with renewed energy and commitment to continue their vital work in promoting health and nutrition across Cavite.

The assembly also featured keynote speaker Lourdes B. Orongan, Regional Nutrition Program Coordinator from the National Nutrition Council (NNC) Calabarzon, who shared her insights on the multi-faceted role of BNS in ensuring that nutrition and nutrition-related programs are implemented in communities.

The event included exciting competitions that showcased the talents and creativity of the BNS, including the BNS Got Talent, Cheering Competition, and BNS Muse. Trece Martires City emerged as the overall winner in the BNS Got Talent competition, while the City of Bacoor won the Cheering Competition and the BNS Muse crown.

In closing, Ms. Helen Peรฑalba, Provincial Nutrition Action Officer, extended her heartfelt gratitude to all the partners who made the event possible and to all the BNS for their dedication to nutrition service.
