Philippine authorities on Sunday arrested two individuals suspected of selling illegal drugs in a buy-bust operation in Kawit, Cavite province, police said.
The suspects, identified only by their aliases “Nick” and “Rose”, were apprehended at around 4:15 am in Barangay Pulvorista, Kawit, after selling a small sachet of suspected shabu (methamphetamine) to undercover agents.
The operation was conducted by the Kawit Municipal Police Station’s Drugs Enforcement Unit and Intel Operatives, in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA-4A), under the supervision of Police Lieutenant Colonel Richard D. Corpuz.
The suspects were informed of their constitutional rights and were taken to the Kawit Municipal Police Station for documentation and further processing.
The arrests are part of the police station’s intensified campaign against all forms of criminality, particularly the rampant illegal drug trade in Kawit, Cavite.
Authorities warned the public to refrain from engaging in such activities.
The operation is the latest in a series of efforts by Philippine authorities to crack down on the country’s illicit drug trade, which has been a major concern for the government.
