A village chief was killed after being shot by riding-in-tandem gunmen in Maragondon, Cavite last Saturday.
Authorities identified the victim as Rodrigo Tanagras, 53, chairman of Barangay Tulay A in the said town.
According to officials, the victim was helping barangay health workers trim grass along the roadside when two armed men on a motorcycle suddenly appeared and shot him.
The suspects quickly fled the scene after the shooting, and the victim was rushed to San Lorenzo Ruiz Hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
An investigation is ongoing to determine the identities of the suspects and the possible motive behind the crime.
No immediate statement was released by authorities on the possible motive behind Tanagras’ killing.
The killing has sparked fears among residents of Maragondon and increased calls for swift action from PNP authorities to maintain peace and security in the barangay.
