A 61-year-old woman was shot by a motorcycle rider on Sunday while travelling along Arnaldo Highway in Barangay San Francisco, Gen. Trias City, Cavite province.
The victim, identified only as “Norma”, was rushed to hospital after sustaining a gunshot wound to the chest. She is currently receiving medical treatment.
Two passengers in the Isuzu Max vehicle driven by the victim were unharmed in the incident.
Local authorities are investigating to identify the suspect and determine the motive behind the apparent assassination attempt on the businesswoman.
The shooting took place in broad daylight on a busy highway, raising concerns about public safety in the area.
Police have appealed for witnesses to come forward with any information that could aid their investigation.
The incident comes amid ongoing efforts to tackle gun violence and criminal activity in Cavite province.
