In the wake of escalating air pollution levels, residents of Cavite, along with several other regions in the Philippines, are being urged to take necessary precautions.
As of 9:00 PM on Saturday, June 8, 2024, the Air Quality Index (AQI) in these areas ranged from moderate to very unhealthy.
The City of Carmona in Cavite recorded an AQI of 125, falling into the category of ‘Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups’.
This indicates that individuals with respiratory conditions and allergies are at risk and should avoid outdoor activities.
The situation is more severe in Metro Manila, where Pasig City and Pateros have recorded ‘Very Unhealthy’ AQI levels of 201-300.
Makati City, Parañaque City, Taguig City, and San Juan City have also reported ‘Unhealthy’ AQI levels ranging from 151 to 200.
In light of these findings, residents are strongly advised to wear masks to prevent inhaling the high concentration of pollutants in the air.
Minimizing outdoor exposure and using air purifiers at home are also recommended.
Closing windows can help keep out the polluted outdoor air.
This is a developing story and further updates will follow as more information becomes available. Stay safe, everyone.
