The Empowering PWD Entrepreneurs Roundtable Discussion, held on May 14, 2024, at the Privato Hotel in Quezon City, successfully convened over 50 stakeholders from various sectors.

The event aimed to address the unique challenges and opportunities faced by entrepreneurs with disabilities.

Government agencies, including the National Council on Disability Affairs, Department of Trade and Industry, Department of Science and Technology, Technical Education and Skills Development Authority, Department of Social Welfare and Development, and Small Business Corporation, were present. Representatives from local government units of Naga City, Cavite, Quezon City, Mandaue City, and Parang, Maguindanao also attended.

Private sector participants included PLDT-Smart, Go Negosyo, business incubators, financial institutions, and NGOs such as Voice Philippines, NORFIL Foundation, ELKS Foundation, and ATRIEV.

The attendees explored and recommended steps to enhance PWD entrepreneurship, focusing on improving access to government programs and services, and fostering effective partnerships.

The event, initiated with an inspiring speech by Mr. Jose Rañola, President of ATRIEV, featured a panel discussion on “Challenges and Opportunities in PWD Entrepreneurship,” moderated by Miss Carol Catacutan.

Panelists, including PWD entrepreneurs and representatives from PDAO Naga City, PLDT Luzon, DTI, and DSWD, discussed critical issues such as access to training, finance, markets, and technologies for PWDs.

Breakout sessions delved into specific topics, leading to the formulation of actionable plans to support PWD entrepreneurs.

A significant highlight was the commitment to ongoing collaboration and support for PWD entrepreneurs, facilitated by Ms. Daisy Dawn Macahilo, Program Manager of Voice Philippines.

This commitment underscores the collective effort to create a more inclusive entrepreneurial landscape for PWDs across the Philippines.
