A controversial businessman in Kawit, Cavite was shot dead by a motorcycle-riding duo in Brgy. Magdalo Potol, Kawit, Cavite last Saturday afternoon, an incident captured on CCTV.

The victim was identified by authorities as Atty. Jose Luis Granados, a Cavite businessman also known as “Papi Jholo”.

He was known for his dealings with contractors whom he promised of government projects.

According to the Kawit Municipal Police Station, two perpetrators on a motorcycle visited Granados’ home.

The gunman got off the bike and fired at the victim before the suspects quickly fled the scene.

Police are looking into shady business transactions of Granados.

Media reports revealed that Granados were brokering business dealings and government contracts using popular names of national politicians but failed to deliver his promises despite having been paid in advance.

Another report surfaced that Granados was allegedly involved in securing the release from jail of a popular cult figure in exchange for a large sum of money.

The suspects are currently being pursued and their identities are still being determined.

In a Facebook post, Kawit Mayor Angelo Aguinaldo condemned the killing of Granados.

“We extend our deepest condolences to the family, and to our fellow citizens who have been touched by the kindness of our good friend, Papi Jholo Granados,” Aguinaldo said.

“Jholo ‘Papi’ Granados was known as a kind and helpful fellow in his barangay and in the town of Kawit,” said Cavite First District Congressman Jolo Revilla.
