In an unprecedented weather event, Cavite City experienced a severe heat wave on Wednesday, April 24, with the heat index soaring to a life-threatening 48°C. This temperature, categorized as an Extreme Heat Index, poses significant health risks.

In response to the escalating temperatures, Mayor Denver Chua of Cavite City has announced the suspension of academic activities.

All educational institutions, encompassing both public and private sectors, will remain closed on Friday, April 26, as a precautionary measure to safeguard students and faculty alike.

The Local Government Unit (LGU) of Cavite City has issued an urgent advisory for residents, emphasizing the necessity of maintaining hydration and employing protective measures against the heat when venturing outdoors.

The LGU’s proactive steps aim to mitigate the impact of the heat wave and ensure the community’s safety during this challenging period.
