In a significant recognition of their commitment to child welfare, the City of Carmona was honored with the 2022 Seal of Child-Friendly Local Governance (SCFLG) last Thursday, April 4, 2024.

The award, a joint initiative by the Council for the Welfare of Children and the Open Heart Foundation, was presented to 63 local government units across the CALABARZON region, reflecting a broad commitment to creating nurturing environments for young citizens.

The ceremony saw 14 LGUs from Cavite, 13 from Laguna, 10 from Rizal, 11 from Batangas, and 15 from Quezon being recognized for their efforts in safeguarding the rights and welfare of children.

DSWD IV-A Assistant Regional Director Mylah Gatchalian emphasized the importance of local governments in fostering safe, supportive, and dynamic communities where children can thrive and contribute to the nation’s future.

The SCFLG is a testament to the collective endeavor of local governments to prioritize the well-being of children, ensuring they have the opportunity to grow and reach their full potential in a conducive environment.
