A single RFID tag will be enough for all expressways in Luzon starting July 2024. This aims to reduce traffic congestion in tollway plazas and promote cashless payments.

Two different companies operate the Luzon expressways: Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation (MPTC) and San Miguel Corporation (SMC). At present, motorists need to use separate RFID tags for each company: Easytrip for MPTC and Autosweep for SMC.

MPTC runs the Cavite Laguna Expressway, C5 Link, Cavite Expressway, North Luzon Expressway (NLEX), NLEX Harbor Link, and Subic Clark Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX). On the other hand, SMC manages the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX), Skyway, Skyway Stage 3, Southern Tagalog Arterial Road Tollway, Tarlac Pangasinan La Union Expressway (TPLEX), Muntinlupa Cavite Expressway, and Ninoy Aquino International Airport Expressway.

The new RFID system has been undergoing trial runs since January.

Motorists can register for RFID tags for free online.
