MANILA — The Department of Public Works and Highways aims to award the contract for the planned $3.9 billion Bataan-Cavite Interlink Bridge in November 2026, pending approval from the Asian Development Bank.
The roughly 32-kilometer bridge would link Mariveles, Bataan, and Naic, Cavite.
Once completed, it is expected to cut travel between the two provinces to about 45 minutes from the current estimated five and a half hours by land.
The project is meant to speed up transportation and trade, make travel easier for motorists and strengthen links between Central Luzon and the Calabarzon region.
Construction cannot begin until required approvals and subsequent processes are completed. The 45-minute trip is an expected result once the bridge is finished, not a current condition.
