Robber shot, nabbed after gas station holdup; accomplice flees

GEN. EMILIO AGUINALDO, Cavite — Police shot and arrested one of two armed robbery suspects Sunday after a chase following a holdup at a gas station here, while the other suspect escaped and remained at large.

Authorities identified the arrested suspect only by his alias, “Emiliano.” His accomplice, identified as “Michael,” fled after the incident and is still being hunted.

According to police, the two suspects entered the Flying V Gasoline Station in Barangay Poblacion 1 at around 7:30 a.m. on April 6, held up a businessman identified only as “Aries” at gunpoint, and made off with an undisclosed amount of cash before fleeing on a black Honda Click motorcycle toward Alfonso, Cavite.

Officers led by Police Major Hilario Lacaste Jr. immediately launched a hot pursuit operation. During the chase along Marahan Alfonso Road, one of the suspects fired at the pursuing officers, but the weapon misfired. Police returned fire, hitting one suspect, who fell and was subsequently arrested. He was taken to Mendez Specialist Hospital for treatment.

Recovered at the scene were a loaded 12-gauge single-shot shotgun, the motorcycle used in the holdup, two mobile phones, a kitchen knife, and cash amounting to 33,450 pesos.

The arrested suspect faces charges of robbery hold-up and violation of Republic Act 10591, the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act. Manhunt operations for the second suspect are ongoing.

Police urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to authorities.
