Police in Kawit, Cavite, arrested a suspected drug dealer in a buy-bust operation as part of an intensified crackdown on illegal narcotics, authorities said on Monday.
The suspect, identified only by the alias “Acol,” was apprehended late on Feb. 3 after allegedly selling a small sachet of suspected methamphetamine, or “shabu,” to an undercover officer, the Kawit Municipal Police Station said in a statement.
The operation, conducted in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA-4A), took place in Barangay Aplaya at around 11:45 p.m. under the supervision of PLTCOL Socrates S. Jaca, the station’s officer-in-charge.
Police said the suspect was informed of his legal rights and taken into custody for documentation and further legal proceedings. He faces charges under Sections 5 and 11 of Article II of Republic Act 9165, the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act.
Authorities vowed to maintain their crackdown on illegal drugs and warned the public against engaging in criminal activities in Kawit, Cavite.
