4-YEAR-OLD PULLED FROM DROWNING AT CAVITE BEACH RESORT
TERNATE, Cavite — A 4-year-old boy was rescued from drowning at a beach resort here Saturday afternoon after briefly slipping from his guardians’ watch, authorities said.
The victim, identified as Kyle Edward D. Rondina, a resident of Sitio Ligas, Barangay Sapang 1, Ternate, was found in the deep end of the water at Casa Española Island Beach Resort in Barangay San Jose at around 5 p.m.
Duty lifeguard Leonard A. Malapit quickly responded and pulled the unconscious child from the water. Personnel from the Coast Guard Sub-Station Ternate and Special Operations Unit Cavite also assisted in the response.
The boy was administered CPR and regained consciousness. He was transported to Maragondon Municipal Hospital via the resort’s emergency vehicle with assistance from the MDRRMO Ternate.
As of the latest report, the child was in stable condition but was recommended for transfer to Naic Doctors Hospital for further observation.
The Philippine Coast Guard reminded the public to closely supervise children near bodies of water to prevent similar incidents.
