The Komisyon sa Wikang Filipino (KWF) and Limay Polytechnic College (LPC) have formalized a partnership aimed at promoting the Filipino language and indigenous languages in Bataan, signing a Memorandum of Understanding on Feb. 27, 2026.

The agreement provides for the establishment of a Sentro ng Wika at Kultura (SWK) within the LPC campus — an initiative designed to strengthen the use, study, and preservation of Filipino and local languages in the province.

The signing ceremony was held at the KWF office in Harvester, Cubao, Quezon City, marking the first time such an agreement was formalized at that location. KWF Chairperson Marites A. Barrios-Taran and LPC President Elmer B. De Leon led the ceremony.

Under the MOU, the two institutions are expected to collaborate on research, seminars, and language programs intended to broaden public awareness and appreciation of local culture and heritage.

April R. Cruz was designated director of the newly established SWK at LPC. Under her leadership, the center is expected to serve as a hub for language and culture initiatives and act as KWF’s regional partner in implementing its language programs.

The KWF said the choice of the Cubao venue also reflects the commission’s broader outreach efforts beyond academic institutions and into the wider community.
