TANZA, Cavite — Police arrested a man Saturday accused of breaking into his neighbor’s home and stealing 60,000 pesos from a barangay treasurer in Barangay Punta 2, Tanza, Cavite.

Barangay officers turned over the suspect to the Tanza Municipal Police Station at about 1:30 p.m. Jan. 24, 2026, following the early morning burglary, police said.

The treasurer reported that a man entered the home through a window around 1 a.m. after breaking the jalousie, according to a preliminary investigation. The suspect fled with the cash, police said.

The victim’s live-in partner witnessed the suspect fleeing and identified him as a neighbor, police said.

Barangay officers tracked the suspect to a grassy, overgrown area of the barangay, where they arrested him and transferred him to police custody.

The suspect, known by the alias “Dalisay,” remains in custody at the Tanza Municipal Police Station. Police are preparing to file robbery charges.

Authorities praised the barangay officials’ swift response in apprehending the suspect.

Police urged residents to strengthen home security, especially at night, and to report suspicious activity to barangay officials or police.
