CAVITE TOURISM LAUNCHES NIGHTTIME ‘DARK HERITAGE TOUR’ ON HISTORIC CORREGIDOR ISLAND
CAVITE CITY — The Cavite Provincial Tourism Office has launched a new nighttime experience on the historic island of Corregidor, offering visitors a chance to explore its World War II sites after dark.
The “Corregidor Dark Heritage Tour” is designed to provide a different perspective on the island’s history, which was a key battleground during the Japanese invasion in 1942. The tour operates in the evening, departing via ferry from Cavite City.
“The goal is to present Corregidor’s significant history in a more immersive setting,” said a tourism office representative. “The nighttime atmosphere adds a solemn dimension to understanding the events that occurred here.”
The package includes a 45-minute ferry ride, a guided tram tour to major landmarks, and camping equipment for an overnight stay on the beach. Participants will also eat a meal similar to rations served to soldiers during the war.
Key sites on the itinerary are the Malinta Tunnel, the Pacific War Memorial, the Mile Long Barracks, several coastal artillery batteries and the Corregidor Lighthouse.
Tourism officials emphasized the tour is a historical and educational program, not a thrill-seeking attraction. It aims to highlight the island’s role in Philippine and World War II history.
Bookings and inquiries are being handled through the Cavite Provincial Tourism Office’s official social media channels.
