Kawit police arrested a suspected drug dealer in a buy-bust operation in Kawit, Cavite, authorities said on Thursday.
The Kawit Municipal Police Station, in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), conducted the operation in Barangay Manggahan Lawin at approximately 11:25 p.m. on Wednesday.
Police said the suspect, identified only by the alias “Jon,” was arrested after allegedly selling one small plastic sachet of suspected methamphetamine, locally known as “shabu.”
The arrest was made by a team led by Police Captain Ernesto G. Monasterial II under the supervision of Police Lieutenant Colonel Resty E. Soriano, the acting chief of police.
Authorities said the suspect will face charges for violations of Sections 5 and 11 of Article II of Republic Act 9165, the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. These sections pertain to the sale and possession of illegal drugs.
In a statement, the Kawit Municipal Police Station affirmed its “continuous aggressive roll out of law enforcement operations” to prevent crime, aligning with the national police force’s campaign against illegal drugs.
The police did not specify the exact quantity or estimated street value of the seized substance. The suspect is currently detained pending the filing of formal charges.
