KAWIT, Cavite — Police arrested two individuals in a buy-bust operation here Friday night on charges of selling and possessing illegal drugs.
The suspects, identified only by the aliases “Noy” and “Toto,” were apprehended in Barangay San Sebastian at approximately 9 p.m. on Oct. 24, according to the Kawit Municipal Police Station.
Authorities said the operation was conducted by the station’s Drug Enforcement Unit in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Region 4A.
Police confiscated several small, heat-sealed plastic sachets containing suspected shabu, the street name for crystal meth.
The suspects are facing charges for violations of Sections 5 (Sale of Dangerous Drugs) and 11 (Possession of Dangerous Drugs) under Article II of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Police Lt. Col. Resty E. Soriano, chief of police, said the operation is part of the station’s continued campaign against all forms of criminality.
“This accomplishment serves as a stern warning to the public to refrain from engaging in illegal drugs and other illicit activities,” Soriano said.
The suspects are currently detained pending the filing of formal charges.
