BACOOR CITY, Cavite — The City Government of Bacoor, through its Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (DRRMC), announced that it will begin conducting spot inspections of unannounced earthquake drills in all public and private schools across the city starting October 15, 2025.

The directive, outlined in Memorandum Circular No. 027-2025 and signed by Mayor Strike B. Revilla, aims to assess and improve the preparedness level of schools in responding to potential earthquake scenarios.

The move is in line with Republic Act No. 10121, or the Philippine Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Act of 2010.

According to the circular, the Bacoor Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (BDRRMO) will carry out random evaluations of earthquake drills to ensure schools are effectively implementing their School Disaster Preparedness and Response Plans.

The inspections seek to identify strengths and areas for improvement in each school’s emergency response capabilities.

Mayor Revilla emphasized that the safety of Bacooreños, particularly students, remains the city’s top priority. “Together, let’s continue building a safer and more disaster-resilient Bacoor,” he said.

The city government urged full cooperation from teachers, staff, and students during the drills and inspections, reminding everyone to treat each drill as a real emergency and to practice the “Duck, Cover, and Hold” procedure.
