BACOOR CITY, Cavite – Authorities in Bacoor City rescued a minor from online sexual exploitation following a tip from the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) announced on Friday.
The NBI’s Human Trafficking Division (NBI-HTRAD), working through the Philippine Internet Crimes Against Children Center, identified a foreign national allegedly involved in grooming and exploiting the Bacoor-based minor online, as well as possessing, producing, and distributing child sexual abuse materials.
NBI-HTRAD, in collaboration with the NBI-Cavite North District Office, conducted surveillance to confirm the victim’s location and identity in Bacoor City.
A joint operation on Sept. 16 resulted in the rescue of the minor, who was placed under the protective custody of the City Social Welfare and Development Office in Cavite.
The suspect faces charges under Philippine laws, including the Anti-Online Sexual Abuse or Exploitation of Children Act, the Cybercrime Prevention Act, and the Expanded Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act, which target online exploitation and child protection.
The rescue underscores Bacoor City’s role in the nationwide fight against online child exploitation, bolstered by international cooperation and local enforcement efforts to safeguard vulnerable minors.
