IMUS, Cavite – The city government of Imus has called on residents to support efforts against blood-related illnesses as the Philippines observes Blood Diseases Month, citing rising cases of anemia, hemophilia and leukemia nationwide.

The Philippine Council for Health Research and Development (PCHRD) identifies the three as the most common blood conditions in the country, often linked to poor nutrition and environmental factors.

Local officials urged Imuseños to seek medical consultation if they experience fatigue or dizziness, eat food rich in iron and folate, and support blood donation drives.

“Ang simpleng pag-unawa ay maaaring magligtas ng buhay (A simple understanding can save lives),” the city government said in a statement.

Experts warn that anemia continues to affect millions of Filipinos, hemophilia remains underdiagnosed due to limited screening, and leukemia is among the leading childhood cancers in the country.

Blood Diseases Month, declared under Proclamation No. 1833 in 2009, aims to raise public awareness and improve support for patients.
